About the event

This tour starts at Angel Station and finishes at Sadlers Wells Theatre. Many people walk along Islington High Street to look at the shops but little do they know that round the back of the high street lies an abundance of history that belies the amazing things that have happened in Islington over the years. Not many people know that the ANC had their British headquarters in Islington, that the Eritrean Embassy is based in Islington and that a once famous Egyptologist lived in the area, writing about her adventures in Egypt.

Come on this walk to see where the first Black arts centre was opened in London. Your professionally qualified guide will take you to the places that you've probably passed by many times without ever knowing what happened there. Avril's Walks and Talks will walk you around the area regaling you with tales at each stop of all the exciting and interesting things that have happened there. This is one not to be missed.
