Terms and Conditions

Please read the terms and conditions of booking. This is the only contract between  you, the customer, and Avril's Walks and Talks. The following Booking Conditions, together with the general information contained on our website, form the basis of your contract with Avril's Walks and Talks, c/o Citygate House, r/o 197-199 Baddow Road, Chelmsford, Essex, CM2 7PZ. Please read them carefully as they set out our respective rights and obligations. By confirming your booking, we are entitled to assume that you have had the opportunity to read, and have read, these terms and conditions and agree to them on behalf of yourself and all individuals included in the booking. These terms and conditions are subject to change without notice.

BOOKINGS

Bookings can be made using the website, email, telephone, text, or any form of social media

​

Bookings can be made for listed and scheduled walks and talks or customers can contact Avril's Walks and Talks to book a private event. Private walks and talks will always be charged at a higher rate than scheduled walks and talks. Bookings will be confirmed using email, telephone, text, or any acceptable form of social media e.g Whatsapp

​

Once a booking is made it is up to the individual to attend the event

​

Bookings can be made for adults and children over 5 years. Children up to age 10 and under are free. It is to be noted that some children may find the walking too arduous therefore it is advisable to bring a pushchair for younger children. Children aged 10+ are charged at full price

​

Every effort is made to ensure that talks are suitable for all ages but parents are advised to ensure their children feel comfortable with the subject matter

​

Dogs can accompany an individual on walks but these must be kept under control and remain the total responsibility of the owner

​

All walks and talks will be conducted in English

​

All prices are per person

​

A family ticket is 2 adults + 2 children

​

PAYMENT

​

Payment can be made via website, Paypal,  cheque (made payable to Avril Nanton), BACS, cash. If a cheque bounces the customer is liable to pay the outstanding amount and any charges incurred by Avril's Walks and Talks by the bank

​

Debit card payments will incur no service charge; credit cards may attract a charge which will be provided to the customer if Avril's Walks and Talks are charged

​

All payments must be in GBP (£)

​

Confirmation will be given via email or text once payment is made

​

Full payment must be made at the time of agreed booking

​

Individuals can turn up for the walk or talk on the day but there is no guarantee there will be space for them and could also incur higher charges

​

GROUP BOOKINGS

​

Payment can ONLY  be made via Paypal, cheque (made payable to Avril Nanton) or BACS

​

All payments must be in GBP (£)

​

A 50% non-refundable deposit will be taken at the time of the booking. The other 50% needs to be paid at least 7 days before the event takes place. Failure to pay in time could lead to the event being cancelled and will also lead to higher charges

​

You are responsible for providing accurate, timely and complete information in connection with your group booking 

​

Avril's Walks and Talks is not responsible for any claims relating to any inaccurate, untimely or incomplete information provided to us by you

​

Where a walk or talk booking is taken for schools/college/universities, the person or people who made that booking is responsible and accountable for the number of students and an appropriate number of teachers must accompany the number of students on the walk/talk. The school/teacher(s) are also responsible for controlling the behaviour of the students. If any student consistently misbehaves the walk/talk may be terminated if the behaviour constitutes a risk to the rest of the group. There will be no refund if this happens.

AMENDMENTS, CANCELLATIONS, REFUNDS

 

INDIVIDUALS

 

If Avril's Walks and Talks have to make any amendments to the walks or talks, customers will be informed beforehand. If the customer is unable to attend the walk or talk due to these changes, a full refund will be given or arrangements can be made between Avril's Walks and Talks and the customer to rearrange the event for a more convenient date and time

​

Customers who are unable to attend and have given sufficient notice will be refunded or contacted to rearrange the walk

​

Notice of cancellation of the event or non-attendance from individuals must be given 1 days notice in advance by telephone and/or in writing via email or text. Failure to give 1 days notice will result in payments not being refunded

​

Any refunds given will be at the discretion of Avril's Walks and Talks

​

Should any customers misbehave whilst at an event, they will be asked to leave and will not be allowed to return to the event. No refunds will be given in this case​

​

GROUP AMENDMENTS, CANCELLATIONS, REFUNDS

​

A 50% non-refundable deposit will be taken at the time of booking. The other 50% needs to be paid at least 7 days before the event takes place.  Failure to pay in time could lead to the event being cancelled and further charges will be incurred

​

Should the payment come after the event has taken place a further 25% will be added to the invoice. This must be paid within 14 days of receipt

​

Any amendments to group bookings will not incur any charges UNLESS there is an INCREASE in number of people in the group.

 

If the group number DECREASES there will be no refund of the original deposit but amendments to the outstanding payment will be made to include the new changes 

​

It is important to note that should full payment not be received before the event takes place then Avril's Walks and Talks will not attend the event. 

​

(1) If for the following unforeseen reasons the walk has to be cancelled by Avril's Walks and Talks, as much advance notice as possible will be given and a full refund will be given to the customer. Alternatively, the customer and Avril's Walks and Talks can decide if the walk can be re-arranged.

 

These reasons include: illness of the guide or the guides family, arrest of the guide or the guides family for whatever reason, kidnapping of the guide or the guides family, death of a member of the guides family. Where possible another guide could be brought in to conduct the tour if available. In the event of another guide being brought in to conduct the tour there will be no refund from Avril's Walks and Talks

​

(2) If the walk has to be cancelled for these following reasons, no refund will be given but Avril's Walks and Talks and the customer can negotiate a re-arrangement of the event.

 

These reasons include: unforeseen transport strikes, Acts of God, war, disaster, extremely bad weather, force majeure

​

If, after the event, the customer is not happy with some aspect of the event and would like a refund, any refunds requested by the customer must be put in writing to info@avrilswalksandtalks.co.uk within 2 days of the date of the event finishing. Failure to do so will result in no refund being given

​

A walk will not take place if no advance booking or payment has been received

​

Any refunds given will be at the discretion of Avril's Walks and Talks

​

Walks and Talks will start at the time stated. With regard to Walks all customers are requested to arrive 15 minutes before the setting off time to avoid being late. Unfortunately the guide will not be able to answer their phone to give you directions once the walk has started. If you call the guide before the walk starts, they may be able to direct you to a place where you can join the group, but this is not always possible. We do not offer refunds to people who miss the walk because they are late 

 

All talks will start at the time stated unless due to unforeseen circumstances. No refunds will be given unless the talk has to be cancelled. If the venue where the talk is being held decides that due to unforeseen circumstances the talk has to be cancelled, no refund will be given but every effort will be made to rearrange the talk and a new date offered to the customer. If the customer is unable to make the new date a refund will be given

If the customer is unhappy with the service given by Avril's Walks and Talks they must put their complaint in writing, explaining their reasons clearly and send it to info@avrilswalksandtalks.co.uk where it will be dealt with and responded to within 7 days. This does not include customers who  failed to turn up for their walk at the designated time

​

Should any customers misbehave whilst at an event, they will be asked to leave and will not be allowed to return to the event. No refunds will be given in this case. This applies to group bookings where members of the group misbehave to the point where the event has to be cancelled

​

All walks will take place with the intention of following a specific route but should there be a diversion the new route may include unforeseen stairs, hills, steep inclines or walkways which could make the walk difficult for some. All attempts at simplifying the walk will be made but if customers feel they cannot continue the walk, no refunds will be given

​

LIABILITIES

​

Please take care of all personal property. It is your responsibility to look after your own items. Avril's Walks and Talks cannot be held responsible for your personal items. 

 

Avril's Walks and Talks will not be liable for any theft,  loss, damage, delay, inconvenience, direct or consequential loss, however caused, unless  due to negligence by Avril's Walks and Talks, in which case our liability is limited (except for death or personal injury) for damages to a maximum of the refund of the ticket price

Each customer is responsible for maintaining their safety at all times. By agreeing to take part  on the walk, all customers are agreeing to listen to the safety instructions given by the Guide  and to exercise due care and attention whilst walking

​

Customer Injury or Illness prior to an event

​

Should a customer become ill or suffer an injury prior to an event they must inform Avril's Walks and Talks within the stated cancellation time in order for a refund to take effect

 

Should the illness or injury happen the day before or on the day of the event, a telephone call should be made to Avril's Walks and Talks immediately. Refunds can be negotiated between the customer and Avril's Walks and Talks

Any refund given is at the discretion of Avril's Walks and Talks

​

GENERAL INFORMATION

​

Any children or dogs who come on the walk must be attended to by their parents or owners. It is not the responsibility of the tour guide to attend to children or animals​

​

Dogs may not be allowed entry at certain events or venues. If you have brought your dog and they are not allowed into the event/venue they will need to be left outside in a safe environment. If the owner feels this is unacceptable or unsafe for the dog, then no refunds will be given if they leave the event due to this reason

​

No recording either via camera equipment, mobile phone, tape recorder or any other recording device is allowed on the walk or talk if it means that customers are recording the whole event for their own benefit or a rival company. Occassional videoing can be done by customers but not the entire walk or talk. Notes can be taken by customers but the guides notes are not available

​

Pictures can be taken by customers but it is prudent to ask others on the walk if they mind having their picture taken. Pictures and videos can be taken of the guide but can only be used for customers' personal use. They cannot be used on other company websites

​

Avril's Walks and Talks will occasionally take photographs and videos of walks and talks. These will be used on our website and company publicity. Any customer who does not wish to be included in these should inform Avril's Walks and Talks beforehand, however, it should be understood that any pictures taken by Avril's Walks and Talks will be used for publicity reasons

All text, graphics, editorial content, data, formatting, graphs, designs, HTML, look and feel, photographs, music, sounds, images, software, videos, designs, typefaces and other content (collectively "Proprietary Material") that you see or read on the site is owned by Avril's Walks and Talks, or is used with the owner's permission

​

The Avril's Walks and Talks logo are service marks owned by Avril's Walks and Talks. Any other trademarks, service marks, logos and/or trade names appearing on the site are the property of their respective owners. You may not copy or use any of these marks, logos or trade names without the prior written permission of Avril's Walks and Talks or the applicable owner

​

Any disputes that arise between parties will be resolved by English Law
